Fascism, Glenn Beck and how to survice true fascism

A lesson in Fascism, by Glen Beck

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines Fascism as thus.

fas·cism noun
Etymology: Italian fascismo, from fascio bundle, fasces, group, from Latin fascis bundle & fasces fasces
Date: 1921
1often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition2: a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control fascism and brutality — J. W. Aldridge>

There are several things here that Glenn Beck forgot to mention in is diatribe about the fascio bundles, fascism and the Mercury Dime. The first is that no matter how you define Fascism, the type of government perfected by Glenn Beck and his whacked out followers....is.....Fascism. He told me to blook up the definition. I did.

One of the more startling statements about the mercury dime, is that it was first minted in 1916, the start of Woodrow Wilson's second term. And, Yes, Pres. Wilson most likely approved of the symbolism on the reverse, The ax, bundled with rods, tied together with a wreath of peace. To him and to most people who looked at that symbol on the back of those dimes for the first time, probably saw Unity is strength. But Glenn Beck Still gets it wrong when he ids Wilson with "Progressive Fascism".

And it seems Beck isn't the first nut job to imply a link between the dime and Fascism. This is from a 2007 article in Numismatic News:

Among the many false rumors spread about U.S. coins over the years was that the appearance of the "fasces," an ancient Roman symbol of authority, on the Mercury dime (1916-1945) was linked to a secret support of fascism in this country. Why? Well, even though the Mercury dime went into circulation prior to the rise of fascism in Italy under Benito Mussolini, by the 1920s, some began to notice that the fasces, which was by then being used as a symbol of fascism, also appeared on the back of the U.S. dime. "Anyone who denounces Mussolini for the adoption of a battle-ax as the symbol of the Fascisti, says Representative Sol Bloomsays, better take a look at our dime," wrote the Chicago Evening Post in 1926. In 1936, a letter sent to the chairman of the House Committee on Coinage, Weights and Measures (reproduced in the October 1936 issue of The Numismatist, the monthly publication of the American Numismatic Association), warned that: "The fasces, which is the emblem of Fascism, the present form of government in Italy, strangely enough appears on the reverse of our dime. Although it appears on this coinage as early as 1916, and although it was not adopted by Mussolini and his followers until 1919, future world historians delving into the past through numismatics, as is often the custom, are liable to draw the conclusion that the United States and not Italy was the birthplace of fascism." For the artist's part, Adolph Weinman, whose coinage designs reflected the mood of the nation as it faced the possibility of entry into World War I, the fasces on the dime's reverse were "to symbolize the strength which lies in unity, while the battle-ax stands for preparedness to defend the Union. The branch of olive is symbolical of our love of peace."

This Little Fascist Symbol was our way of saying we are ready to fight, but would prefer peace. But...ummm, at the time it wasn't fascist, it was just another Roman symbol. It wasn't until 1919 when Mussolini adopted it for the symbol du jour. People back then did noticed, but didn't change it till 1946.

Ideologically speaking, Wilson and Beck would get along quite well. Wilson was the President who Incorporated segregation into American society, Fired off back political leaders and officers. Glenn Beck with love nothing more than to do the same with what ever he hates for that moment.

This is insanity to the max. The political Ideology of Glenn beck is by definition, Fascist and Wikipedia agrees

Fascism is a radical and authoritarian nationalist political ideology. Fascism is also a corporatist economic ideology. Fascists advocate the creation of a single-party state. Fascists believe that nations and races are in perpetual conflict whereby only the strong can survive by being healthy, vital, and by asserting themselves in combat against the weak. Fascist governments forbid and suppress criticism and opposition to the government and the fascist movement. Fascism opposes class conflict and blames capitalist liberal democracies for creating class conflict and in turn blames communists for exploiting class conflict.

Ok Lets take that Piece by Piece in comparison

Fascism is a radical and authoritarian nationalist political ideology
Neo-Conservatism is a political philosophy that emerged in the United States of America, and which supports using American power, including military force, to bring democracy and human rights to other countries.

Fascism is also a corporatist economic ideology
Neo-Conservatism is generally comfortable with a minimally-bureaucratic welfare state; and, while generally supportive of free markets, they are willing to interfere for overriding social purposes

Fascism advocates the creation of a single-party state
Neo-Conservatism wants you all to listen to them (see Rush Pigslaw), and know that with them in absolute control everything would be hunky dory.

Fascists believe that nations and races are in perpetual conflict whereby only the strong can survive by being healthy, vital, and by asserting themselves in combat against the weak
Neo-Conservative see militia's and Glenn Beck

Fascist governments forbid and suppress criticism and opposition to the government and the fascist movement.
Neo-Conservatives see Creationists and Holocaust deniers. Glenn Beck Suppresses desent, so does all of his buddies

Fascism opposes class conflict and blames capitalist liberal democracies for creating class conflict and in turn blames communists for exploiting class conflict.

Neo-conservatism See Above.

The only thing we have learned here is that Glenn Beck is an Idiot.
